Background
The Carole Cable Memorial Fund was set up to commemorate the life and work of Carole Cable, founder and first Musical Director of Barking Operatic Society, who died in May 1997. An initial target of £5,000 was achieved from donations in her memory and the Fund was launched in November 1997.
Purpose
The purpose of the Fund is to provide financial assistance for young musicians of Barking and Dagenham to further their musical talent and education, for example through awards for musical instruments, music lessons or other music-related experiences.
Administration
The CCMF is continually boosted by donations in response to mail-shots and by fundraising events and it aims to make annual awards of £50 - £500 to individual applicants.
Application to the Fund should be made to Phillip Cable, CCMF Representative, via the Barking MAD website and applicants will be required to complete an application form giving information on such things as :-
