F.C. Jones, MBE
It
is with great sadness that Barking Music and Drama has to announce the
death of its President, Ald. Fred Jones. Fred became President of
Barking MAD in 1993 and over the next twenty-three years was a very
active Patron. He attended all general meetings and his association
with the Borough Council afforded the Company valuable connections and
channels of communication. He was a constant member of our
front-of-house teams, selling programmes and raffle tickets and meeting
and greeting audiences. He was extremely generous with his donations to
the Company, especially for after-show parties and always helped with
the breakdown at the end of a production run. Fred Jones was a great
servant to the people of Barking and Dagenham and one of its real
characters. He will be sorely missed in many areas of community life
and Barking MAD has lost one of its greatest supporters.
